Hanging out in the Hoh Rain Forest

Hoh Rain Forest

The Hoh Rain Forest is located on the west side of Olympic National Park, Washington, less than an hour’s drive from Forks where we were staying. (See my blog post about the feline greeter here.)

The forest receives an annual total rain of 140 to 170 inches… that’s 12 to 14 feet (3.5 to 4.25 meters). I can only relate that to Los Angeles where during the past few years we have been lucky to get 6 to 8 inches a year. Send some of that extra wet stuff our way!

I thoroughly enjoyed wandering around amongst the lush green coniferous and deciduous trees accompanied by mosses and ferns.

These are incredible, Roslyn! Are you entering any contests or shows? If not, you must! Your talent needs to be shared with a wide audience.

Okay, Jill. After reading your post about your book publishing it really encouraged me to do something. Your comments on my posts are always very motivating. I no longer have any excuses. In fact as I was making coffee this morning I decided I would put some major work into my photo website today as I have seen other photographers do. Then reading this comment, pushed me over the edge. In the past I’ve always jumped into things and done them….. don’t know why I am so reticent with my photography. I do exhibit in an annual local show but haven’t taken it further. Enough! I am going to push myself, and thank you!!!

You should go for it, Roslyn! You’ve got so much talent! I took a chance with a contest, and look what happened. You can do it! 🙂

Yes, Cate, as much as I love living in the city, being out in nature really revives the “soul.”
